Where’s Waldo Arcade Gameplay
Wally wo Sagase History
Wally wo Sagase is a rare Japanese arcade game that was developed by Sega. It was released in 1992, only in Japan.
This arcade game is a completely different game than the Super Nintendo game called by the same name, Wally wo Sagase. The SNES game was released in Japan in 1993.
Wally wo Sagase was based on Where’s Waldo? and had the English title of “Where’s Wally?” below the Japanese title in the game.
Where’s Wally? is what the franchise of games and books are called in most of the English-speaking world except. Yet in North America, it is the Where’s Waldo? franchise. The book series was first created in the United Kingdom as Where’s Wally?
The history of Wally wo Sagase is strange as the arcade game was only released in Japan, even though the Where’s Waldo? franchise is much more popular in the UK and North America. It did not do well in Japan and not a lot of arcade cabinets were made, making the cabinet for this arcade game extremely rare to find.
The gameplay of Wally wo Sagase stays true to the Where’s Waldo? Franchise. It has crazy locations and situations for you to find Waldo in.
How to Play Where’s Wally the Arcade Game?
You use the trackball to move a cursor around the screen to search for Waldo in the crowded and colorful scenes.
There are 5 different types of games you can play within the arcade game.
The first game type is most like the classic Where’s Waldo? Books. There is a scene that freezes on the screen with lots of sprites on it. You need to search through the screen and click on Waldo before the time runs out.
Second, there is the game that shows a scene that is moving. There are a lot of moving heads that will look similar to Waldo. Click the right head to win.
The next game type is animated as well. Waldo will be somewhere moving in and out of view. You will need to locate him to move onto the next game type.
The fourth game has a frozen scene where you have to click on things that do not belong. For example, there is a screen with a lot of animals on it. A deer on the screen has a bird’s nest in his antler, which you are supposed to click on to win.
The last game is a bonus game which varies depending on which level you are on. Watch the Where’s Waldo? gameplay video above to see all the different kinds of weird bonus games you can play. One game makes you rub a giant’s feet with the trackball.
